View of the Holiday Cottage
Self-catering holiday cottage, Newport Pembrokeshire

Demo Cottage is a self catering holiday cottage, located next to the coastal path in the National Park. There are wonderful sea views and the large sandy beach is one of the best for miles around. The cottage can sleep up to 9 comfortably, though small groups will also find it very manageable. Newport is an ancient borough in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park, set between the Preseli Hills and the sea. There are some excellent shops as well as pubs, restaurants and galleries. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and the town centre and shops can be reached in 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes walk.

House and Environment  This self-catering holiday cottage is modern, warm and comfortable, with wonderful sea views and a large garden. It is about 130 metres from the beach, down a "no through road". At low tide you can wade across the river to the sand dunes and Traeth Mawr ("Big Beach"), a beautiful large sandy beach which is never crowded. Despite being so close to the beach and town, the cottage feels very secluded and quiet.

Facilities  The house is very well equipped with almost everything you might need.  The kitchen is modern with a larder fridge, microwave and there's a second fridge/freezer in the utility room.  On warm days you can barbecue or eat out on the large picnic table on the stone terrace. In the living room is a modern 32" digital television with PVR and DVD player. There is also a HiFi unit in the dining/sitting area, and a table tennis table in the garage. Full details of the facilities can be found on the accomodation page with pictures in the Photo Gallery.

Eating Out  There are plenty of friendly pubs and excellent restaurants in and around Newport, many within walking distance. See the list on the Newport town website.  We also keep lists and information in the holiday cottage.

Walks and Activities  Walking is a favourite activity for many of our visitors. The Cottage is located right on the heritage Pembrokeshire coastal footpath with walks in all directions. There is also excellent sailing, golf and tennis locally. More details of activities can be found on our environment and activities page. When you arrive there is much more information in the house and in the town there is a National Park Information Centre which will advise you on things to do.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park  The Cottage is situated in the largest single area of the Park, which has some of the most beautiful coastline in Europe and above Newport are the Preseli Hills.

Shopping  The Cottage is within walking distance of the town centre, which, despite having just under 1000 permanent residents has a wide selection of shops, galleries and other facilities - see our shops and services list. At the Carningli Centre you will find arts, crafts and pictures. In the surrounding area there are many small workshops producing craft products (for example, the Candle Workshop at Cilgwyn and Jim Harries, wood turner at Mathry).

Travel  Most people drive, but it is also possible to use public transport. More details are on our travel page and full directions are sent with the joining instructions.

Doctor / Dentist / Shops  Full details are given on our shops and services page.
