Here's a list of shops and other services in or near Newport, Pembs. We've produced this because many times we've been asked for such information so people can order food or line up appointments prior to arrival. Remember that we can't be sure this information is right up to date, so if you find any errors let us know.

Street Market

Street Market (Monday 9:00-13:00)

The list is in alphabetic order

BANK: Sadly the local bank (Lloyds) closed in 2017, but there is a cash machine at the Post Office and most major banks have branches in either Cardigan or Haverfordwest. As banks are closing on a regular basis it is best to check before travelling.

BUTCHER: T. Glyn Davies. Market Street, Newport. 01239-820246  Good quality, bit pricey.

DENTIST: Pen y Bont, Newport. Tel 01239-820083. This is a private practice and quite expensive.

DOCTOR: Newport Health Centre. Tel: 01239-820-397. The surgery is at the far end of the car park near the National Park Tourist Information Centre in Long Street. HARDWARE: (Including wet suits, beach gear etc) Havards, East Street, Newport. 01239-820-300 Recommended.

HOSPITAL: The nearest hospital is at Withybush (Fishguard Rd, Haverfordwest, SA61 2PZ) 01437 764545 (about 30 minutes away).

MINOR INJURIES UNIT - Cardigan Hospital. Tel 01239 612214   Closer than Haverfordwest. Call to check if suitable before travelling.

Community Library / visitor service

VISITOR CENTRE: Long Street - opposite car park. No longer run by the National Park, the building now houses both a replacement visitor service run by volunteers and the library (see below).

LIBRARY: A Community run pubic library housed in the old Visitor Centre Building opposite the car park in Long Street. It is run in co-operation with Pembrokeshire County Council. Services include wi-fi and computer access. Opening hours are posted on the building or can be seen here.

STREET MARKET: Runs each Monday in the holiday season (April to December) from 0900 to 1300, weather permitting. On sale are mostly local products, including fresh vegetables, cheeses, pies, cakes and breads, hand crafted artifacts etc.

SUPERMARKET (local): SPAR. Market Street, Newport (open every day 8 am to 10pm)

SUPERMARKET (large): TESCO, Cardigan is the closest large supermarket. Tel: 0845 6779120
Directions: Follow the A487 to Cardigan, take bypass signposted Aberystwyth. Tesco is on the left up a hill, about 1/2 mile after you cross the river. More details here.
Open: 07:00-23:00, except Sunday 10:00-16:00.
Also in Cardigan is an Aldi. In Haverfordwest there is a larger Tesco and also a Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi.

One of our guests has pointed out that Tesco will deliver an order on the day you arrive, so you can avoid going out to shop! Other supermarkets may also offer a delivery service.
